Through the very nature of the game, common golf injuries are bound to happen. Golfers, and their accompanying bodies, can save a whole lot of pain to themselves by taking the time to learn how common injuries occur and avoiding those mistakes. The very best way to avoid injury is to make sure your body is in good physical shape before you play. Unfortunately this is not always possible. If in good shape, you will find yourself having less injuries.

For many golfers, the back injury is quite common because they are caused by repeated walking and swinging. By simply conditioning your back muscles, using muscle rubs, ice packs, and back braces, you can successful avoid the pain of back injury. Before starting another day's worth of activities after a game of golf, be sure to get plenty of rest so that your back muscles get the rest they need. If you play continuous games back to back, you may want to consider an occasional massage or even a chiropractic alignment.

Tennis elbow - or in golf, called golfer's elbow - is another common golf injury. This injury results in players who begin playing large amounts of golf suddenly. Minor differences exist between tennis elbow and golfer's elbow. The most noticeable difference between them is that the upper outer arm is the source of pain for tennis elbow, while the upper inner arm is the main source of pain for golfer's elbow. There is no specific way to avoid these injuries, but they are most frequently caused by playing the game more frequently than you previously had. Tennis and golfer's elbow is likely to happen, for instance, to the person who is plays a long tournament when they are used to playing a solitary game a month.

Many golfers experience shoulder pain. This common golf injury is an unsurprising aspect of golfing for many players. As you can imagine, golfers put a tremendous amount of pressure on their shoulders every time they swing their clubs. Injury easily happens, particularly when the body is already tired or worn. Take good care of your body and warm up your shoulder muscles before a game of golf as this will help prevent injury.

Finally, another common golf injury is carpal tunnel syndrome, which happens to many people who play golf, as they frequently have repetitive movement. Because there are many golfers who like to play more than one game of golf in a row, if they do this over a monthly time period, they are likely to experience carpal tunnel syndrome. If your carpal tunnel is caught early, you can usually ease the discomfort with a brace, though other cases can be more serious. For some, the injury is far, far more serious. These individuals can lose the ability to use their hands and must have surgery to correct the problem. For many affected by carpal tunnel syndrome, the onset of the disease can be shocking, as it has no true warning signs up until the signs of the disease suddenly appear. A wrist brace can help make a noticeable difference so be sure to wear one if you experience severe wrist pain.
